Celebrating one of Australia’s most recognisable native birds, the 2026 Australian Kookaburra captures the spirit of the bush in vivid colour. Famous for its distinctive laughing call, the kookaburra is often heard at dawn and dusk and plays an important role in marking territory among its kind.
This special release features an iconic privy mark and detailed coloured artistry, combining beloved Australian wildlife with a distinctive international tribute.
The coin’s coloured reverse portrays the kookaburra in flight over a flowing river, framed by rugged rocks and lush native trees. A distinctive privy mark depicts the red and green Ampelmännchen, honouring the iconic Berlin traffic light figures designed in East Germany during the 1960s.
The reverse also includes the inscription ‘KOOKABURRA’, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, and the coin’s weight, purity, and 2026 year-date.
